" Bindaas " is a word in Hindi slang that originated (like many other Hindi slangs) from Mumbaiya Hindi (the dialect spoken in and around Mumbai and used in films in the mouth of lesser educated people). It's now spread all over North India and pretty much lost its slang status. It's even a part of the OED now.
The name Bindaas means independent, cool, and carefree. Just as we intend our restaurant to be. Located in the Cleveland Park neighborhood of Washington, DC James Beard award winning Chef Vikram Sundaram wishes to create food often unavailable here in the USA and cherished in India.
Bindass has a wide/wonderful menu with varied tastes and seasonings for most diners. Service was quite good and appropriately attentive. Dishes are sufficient to allow sharing with small groups up to 6 people. Really like the atmosphere here--feels as if I've been transported to modern India.
