Storyline 2012: Curse of the Xtabai
A sealed ancient Mayan cave would be blown open unleashing Xtabai to wreak havoc on the world and destroy civilization. She begins by infecting the inhabitants of a nearby village with a terrible and deadly fever. The government responds by placing the village under quarantine. A team of students along with their teacher escape into the jungle to find a cure, guided only by a dream. They go deep into the bowels of the Mayan underworld, hunted by Xtabai herself. Will they ultimately succeed in defeating the evil Xtabai and saving mankind from her curse? How many will live to tell the tale?Movie details

2012: Kurse a di Xtabai (Curse of the Xtabai) is an 80-minute Belizean Creole-language supernatural thriller and the first major feature length dramatic movie to be entirely made in Belize. It was directed by Matthiew Klinck and selected as the opening night movie of the 2012 Belize International Film Festival. It was then taken on a national tour around the country and projected for audiences on an inflatable screen.
Notably Belize's first full-length movie, Curse of the Xtabai is, unfortunately, an amateur attempt at an apocalypse-adventure film, filled with such signposts as an army quarantine, mysterious illnesses, a trek into the jungle, a traitor, and a mysterious guide. Non-actors are almost exclusively used, and the shaky dialogue fails to hit its mark without the necessary execution.
